“EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL SEA” IN UKRAINIAN LINGUO?ULTURAL CONTINUUM

The article is aimed to clear out the cognitive significance of concept SEA for Ukrainian mentality, and culture. Turning characteristics cultural SEA, author identifies two main aspects it: “external” (related territorial geographical self-identification Ukrainians) “internal” (cognitively associated with “external”, representing emotional sphere romantic personality). study based on dooms XVI–XVII centures, collected published in 1927–1931 by researcher Catherine Hrushevska, poems about sea written outstanding poetess Lesya Ukrainka poets “Executed Renaissance” (A. Vlizko, J. Pluzhnyk others).Comparison dimensions (external internal) gives an opportunity carry certain parallels between their axiological characteristics. Both its internal external reveals duality, ambivalence, correlation idea primary chaos, danger overcoming.
